React

A JavaScript library for building user interfaces from components, with a large pool of developers and a wide set of maintained libraries around it.

Part of Tailor-made Software Development

React is a JavaScript library for building user interfaces from components: self-contained pieces that render their own part of the screen and combine into larger views.

Where it fits

Large, interactive interfaces such as back offices, dashboards and customer portals. The component model scales to big interfaces better than page-by-page approaches, and one-way data flow makes complex state easier to follow.

There are practical reasons too. React has one of the largest developer pools of any front-end technology and a wide range of maintained component libraries. For a system that will be maintained for many years, often by people not yet hired, that weighs as much as the technical comparison.

Its limits

React is a library, so routing, data fetching, server rendering, forms and build configuration are separate decisions. A team that adopts React without settling them ends up with its own undocumented framework, which is why production projects often use a framework such as Next.js on top.

How we use it

We agree the surrounding choices at the start of a project: how state is managed, where rendering happens, and how much work is left to the browser. Writing these down early keeps the codebase consistent as developers join and leave.
